Belden Universal is seeking a highly skilled CNC/Swiss machine Set-Up person for the power transmission industry in Hillside, IL. The position is responsible for setting up, and operating CNC machines.

CNC Machinist Job Duties:

  • Plans machining by studying work orders, blueprints, materials, specifications, locations of surfaces, and machining parameters; interpreting geometric dimensions and tolerances (GD&T).

  • Programs multi-spindle CNC lathes by entering instructions, including zero and reference points; setting tool registers, offsets, compensation, and conditional switches; calculating requirements, including basic math, geometry, and trigonometry; proving part programs. Effectively and expeditiously program, set-up, and operate Automatic or CNC Swiss/Star CNC machinery, manufacturing parts that meet requested tight tolerances.

  • Sets-up lathes by installing and adjusting various types of tools.

  • Loads feed mechanism by lifting stock into position.

  • Verifies settings by measuring positions, first-run part, and sample workpieces; adhering to international standards.

  • Maintains specifications by observing drilling, grooving, and cutting, including turning, facing, knurling and thread chasing operations; taking measurements; detecting malfunctions; troubleshooting processes; adjusting and reprogramming controls; sharpening and replacing worn tools; adhering to quality assurance procedures and processes.

  • Maintains safe operations by adhering to safety procedures and regulations.

  • Maintains equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements; following manufacturer's instructions; troubleshooting malfunctions.

  • Documents actions by completing production and quality logs.

Material Handler Job Duties:

  • Receive inbound raw materials

  • Record amounts of material or items received and distributed.

  • Maintain inventory records and document actions by completing production and quality logs.

  • Saw cutting steel bar stock with programmable saw (identify metal types before cutting)

  • Preparing and moving material around facility using a cart or forklift

  • Staging required materials lineside to ensure CNC machining centers are supplied in a timely manner to facilitate production

  • Perform miscellaneous tasks throughout the plant to ensure safe, efficient and quality production may perform janitorial duties within the plant when necessary.

  • Operating metal finishing and tumbling equipment to achieve desired part characteristics

  • Maintain safe operations by adhering to safety procedures and regulations.

  • Maintain equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements; following manufacturer's instructions; troubleshooting malfunctions.

  • Driving company owned van (valid driver’s license)

Skills/Qualifications:

  • Experience in a CNC manufacturing environment

  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment with constantly changing parts, tools, materials, and machine methods

  • Excellent time management skills

  • Conceptual skills

  • Strong Verbal Communication skills

  • Functional and Technical Skills

  • Ability to handle physical, repetitive work and be able to stand on your feet for 8 hours a day.

  • Must have good hand-eye coordination.

  • Mechanical aptitude is a plus.

  • Competent in basic math skills.

  • Must be able to read and follow detailed instructions in English.

  • Must be able to distinguish between part numbers and sizes.

  • Must be able to count and label part accurately

Belden Universal is seeking a skilled deburring technician for the power transmission industry in Hillside, IL. The position is responsible for supporting CNC machining centers with deburring operations.

This position is a part time role (20-30 hours/week), with a possibility of converting to full time for a strong and motivated candidate. We can be flexible in working around your personal or school schedule, morning availability (5 AM – 10 AM) is preferred.

Deburring Technician Job Duties:

  • Deburring of parts using hand tools such as handheld scrapers and sanders and power tools such as pedestal grinders, belt sanders, and drill presses.

  • Operating metal finishing and tumbling equipment to achieve desired part characteristics

  • Inspection of parts using inspection instruments such as scales, tape measures, calipers and various inspection gauges

  • Maintain safe operations by adhering to safety procedures and regulations.

  • Maintain equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements; following manufacturer's instructions; troubleshooting malfunctions.

  • Document actions by completing production and quality logs.

Skills/Qualifications:

  • Experience in a CNC manufacturing environment
